Darke County Special Olympics is a non-profit entity that focuses on empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports and physical activities.

With over four decades of serving Darke County, we have positively impacted numerous lives by promoting family, teamwork, and self-esteem among its members.
The Darke County Special Olympics provides a platform for athletes to develop their skills through regular competitions while also cultivating essential life lessons such as perseverance, respect, and sportsmanship.
Aside from fostering physical health benefits like improved strength, flexibility, coordination, the organization has created an environment of belonging where every athlete feels valued for their unique talents and efforts.
In Darke County, through its Special Olympics program, individuals with intellectual disabilities are given opportunities to compete at local, regional, state, and national levels in a variety of sports such as track & field events, basketball, softball, bowling, power lifting and Unified Golf.

The organization’s volunteer coaches ensure safe sporting experiences while teaching athletes valuable lessons about fair play, overcoming personal challenges and supporting each other – reinforcing a sense of community beyond just sports participation.
